None. Unless the person did something that directly changed society outside of sports then the retirement should be limited to their franchise(s).

Jackie Robinson deserves it. Simply dominating your sport isn't enough.
 It's about off-court/field impact as well as on, maybe somewhat in that order. If you just universally retired all the GOAT/GOATish on-field/court players, you'd be running out of numbers quick.

Wayne Gretzky's a bit of an outlier in that he didn't really make a social impact, but you could still argue that he made hockey cool in the U.S., and particularly with the Sun Belt/West Coast. I don't think it's coincidental that not long after he went to the Kings, the NHL put 2 more franchises in California (and another moved to Arizona). And obviously he was incomparable on the ice.

11 for Micah Parsons, we can do this ahead of time so players like Wentz can’t be grandfathered in and tarnish it any longer

Why not Jordan? If Jordans number isn't retired then no ones should.
I love Jordan NH. Why not Wilt,Magic. Bill Russell was out there marching .First black coach, player coach. The league hasnt even honored Jordan like that .Bill Russell name is on Finals MVP and has #6 retired. He will never be forgotten.Jordan should be the logo honestly but he wont get his flowers until he is gone just like rest.
