sounds good... but this entire post is a lie
Kanye West's new album is still waiting for its chart debut.
Unless the rapper has a change of heart, only TIDAL users can listen to
The Life of Pablo.
And now
The New York Times reports that the service isn't revealing any streaming figures, which means the album can't be counted in the Billboard chart over in the US.
"Billboard has been informed that TIDAL is not currently reporting streams for tracks on Kanye's album to Nielsen Music," said Silvio Pietroluongo, Billboard's vice president of charts and data development.
"Therefore streams from TIDAL for this title will not contribute to Billboard's chart rankings at this time."
Kanye's TIDAL loyalty catapulted the streaming service to
the top of the US App Store chart; nevertheless
The Life of Pablo has also been
pirated over half a million times.
The
Official Charts has confirmed to
Digital Spy that streaming-only albums are not eligible to chart if there is no download or physical format, so as it stands, Kanye's album also can't chart in the UK.
so what actually happened is, Ye's album could have been on the charts... TIDAL REFUSED to send in official numbers to billboard.. then months later, we get unconfirmed numbers, and still no official reporting to billboard
any company could just report numbers if they felt like it.. the problem is, when you want to chart, the charting companies send people to VERIFY these numbers... now if you really did 250-400 million streams.. why on earth would you not want an outside source to come verify that
