The need for numbers. I still don’t understand how streaming works. If I click on a song and listen for 10 seconds is that a stream?

Chance having 100M+ streams in two weeks makes me suspect.

because it's a scam that'll be exposed one day, and when it does the whole shyt is gonna crumble like Jenga

I believe they're all doing what Tidal got caught doing

If I’m not mistaken, the music industry is still going strong...

Exactly...the music industry is stronger than it's ever been because the Venture Capitlists and Private Equity firms streamlined the industry and made it adaptable to today's global economy and digital era...

Profit margins are through the roof..because they have lowered expenses and overhead substantially

Unfortunately the LABOR (artists) are not reaping the benefits

The business side is leaner than ever.

Plus they found a way to tap into the least qualified labor force ever :whew:

And least informed with little to none leverage to enter this game with...

Former strippers.. Scammers..Instagram Comedians ...YouTube Cover singers

None of these personalities have a catalog much less a real hit single to justify them getting a Deal in which the label is willing to spend good money

Real talk

It’s almost discouraging really because there’s a lot of other symptoms that arise when the talentless get money. You got a lot of people doing shyt that has nothing to do with music, just so they can get a buzz.

Muddles the idea of musical creativity.

I can’t tell you how many of my musician friends have succumbed to social media pressures, believing that somehow by engaging in the typical style of posting will yield more work/more opportunities. It’s sad to watch. Makes me post less

Girls that can barely sing a lick pretty much just trying to sell sex over their Instagram pages. Makes me realize if people wasn’t showing their asses, they’d have no attention whatsoever.

No sense of tact or finesse, just too much hustle with no skill. Only a skillful person can utilize a bunch of hustlers. A bunch of hustlers in a room with no skill, only drive, are like speeding cars with no steering wheels. You gonna go somewhere, but where is the question.

You live long enough, you gone go somewhere. But, to be directionless is dangerous.

Then, makes me wonder if it’s the final frontier. If you gotta pass off sex to sell, you’ve pretty much put yourself at the bottom of the equation

Well done and well stated. I blame the over saturation of trap music, mixtapes, and free songs that made the general population take music for granted. Plus selling sex is,basically putting a death sentence to an already short career based off of everything but quality music.

These "hustlers" pushing a shytty product and never speak about the quality.

And it just got UGLIER

Last week the U.S Copyright & Trademark office wanted to implement a 44% hike (royalty increase) for Songwriters and Indy Publishers...

Which is great and definitely needed :leon:

But just this week 4 streaming services joined together to file an injunction in Federal Appeals court to prevent that from happening...

:snoop: these guys don't want to let the little guys eat at all

With the way things are going now do you feel it is harder to eat in the music industry or movie industry?

It's Definitely harder to eat in the movie industry

Because at least in the music industry you can always create content independently

To create a buzz or at least generate show dough or garner features or get placements as a producer

Actors and actresses on the other hand basically have to Wait to be HIRED or CASTED for work and without a good agent you ain't eating
