If I had to guess, since the frame is small and he is shooting video, I would say a 60D or 70D. Could be a T5i or T6i but I don't think so.

In a word, yes. Camera tech has come a long way. You would be surprised the movies that are shot with SLRs now. I'm sure he upgraded the lens. Doesn't look like an L lens. But could be USM.

The mic I can't speak on.
