I agree with most of this except the anti technology part. The problem is not technology itself but mainly that technology has become a less invasive way to farm money from people. Technolgy in itself is good, all tools are technolgy, digital technologies are just a better version of a tool.

Technology used to farm engagement is kind of like processed sugar. The effects are seen as more benine than say like cocaine, its just you getting fat. However it's far more addictive than cocaine. Since its seen as less harmful this destructive substance is litterally on every cash register, tempting you every time you go to the store.

This is the same with tech. Many big sites have algorithms to specifically farm more engagement, which leads to more money. Without any regulation, or more importantly, make the desire for accumulation of capital lessened by providing consistent capital to everyone, people will use these tools to get more money from people by any means.

Yeah, a break from tech in the moment is good. But using it for human interaction is not so bad and as VR tech improves we will get to the point to where it will be almost no difference between meeting in VR and in real life.
