You know that the average African American genome includes people who look like the Hodges, Beyonce and Prince right? Obviously phenotype doesn't necessarily reveal what a person's racial makeup/genotype actually is (I know about the dark skinned exceptions), but most American black people who don't "look" mixed are nowhere near 58%. It's more like 80-90% African.

There are obviously a LOT of light skinned AA's, and they're just as African American as their darker counterparts. They contribute to this "low" average, not dark skinned people.
