when I was like 9-10 I became atheist
Atheist because God is only a concept to me
I just don't know the reality of these things like everyone else
Maybe God exists in some form or maybe it doesn't exist at all
It's possible reality extends beyond this one and our consciousness exists before and after this life

religion is a mental clamp on reason. even smart religious people have to ignore obvious contradictions.
spirituality is the way of the enlightened. religion is just a road map and set of rules for those who can't reach enlightenment they are only governed by a fear of hell. a righteous man is not moral because he fears the devil but because he is enlightened.

I had a long conversation with my brother about this. When avatar came out he said he's not watching it bc it says plants have souls. I asked him why doesn't he think plants and animals have souls and he said bc god only gave souls to humans. I don't think souls exist at all. We agreed to disagree.My biggest gripe is animals bugs in particular. Think of how many bugs you've killed they are made from the same organic material as us, from the same cellular processes , and if he existed by the same God and yet I bet you never thought they went to heaven
I think we all do thru the same process of life and death.

So you don't believe a bug's life = a human's since you can arbitrarily decide that they need to die..... would you do the same to a human if you were inconvenienced.... this aint got shyt to with whether you believe there is an after life...... but everything to do with that statement.....
I don't consider myself an "atheist" but basically would be by common religious standards. It'll take too much typing amd reading to explain how I got here. The better question is, what made YOU (presumably) a Christian @SirReginald? A Baptist? A Pentecostal? A Catholic? Etc.

that last sentence scares so many people. I think this is why people believe in a higher power. Death is so permanent and unknowing many people can't handle the thought that there may be no reason for life. There's no grand scheme of our existence.
