To clarify:

What I'm saying is what was the track and time that drew you in and made you a head. What made the rap habit stick so you, of your own accord, went searching for a fix.

Oh, in that case, this had me watching Rap City (both the BET and MuchMusic shows) whenever I could before I was old enough to purchase/start my own collection

My pops and my brother were hip hop heads. As a youngin, I was listening to Biggie’s first two albums, Snoop’s Doggystyle, Nas, NWA, etc

Reciting gangsta lyrics was mad funny. Learned how to curse wilddd young. My moms gave me multiple asswhoopings for saying the F word:pachaha:

My uncles listened to nothing but rap. Early 80s. Learned how to beat box, the fat boys were popular.

I can remember :flabbynsick: when Run DMC was a brand new group

Born into it

I was raised on hip hop. My big sister was into all the early shyt like Run DMC, LL, Big Daddy Kane etc. So as far back as I can remember hip hop was being played around the house along with classic R&B from my parents. I’m old enough to remember when hip hop was considered a fad
:flabbynsick:

First song I remember learning the words to was I’m Bad by LL

Run DMC 30 Days.

I was around 8.

I wouldn't say it was either the beat or the rhyme, just the whole thing hooked me immediately.

Been rhyming since. 40 years now.
