I know we throw out the term goat rapper when we talk about some of our favorite rappers, but what is the criteria? :pachaha::huhldup::lupe::ahh:

Does the rapper get extra points for death, how he died?
Beef?
Skillz?
Stans?

Let me know what you think?:ld:

You have to prophetic.

Rakim --- So I wait for terrorists to attack
Every time a truck backfires, I fire back
I look for shelter when a plane is over me

Ice Cube --- Predicted L.A. riots

Nas --- Predicted there can only be one king...described the uprising and down fall of hip-hop.

A comination of Authenticity, Lyricisim, Impact, and Success- in that order.
1. Niguhs gotta be real. Think Pac, DMX, Pimp-C, Trick Daddy, Easy E, Curtisss

2. A GOAT has to be able to hold his own on the Mic. The best rappers in terms of this to me are Big L, Nas, Big Pun, Biggie, andre 3000

3. Impact in terms of a movement or changing the game, the presence has to have been felt. Wu-Tang, Rocafella, Pac & BIG, Rakim/Kane/G.Rap best describe what I mean.

4. No artist can really be a GOAT if they dont have some sort of success to stunt with. Now it can be either commercial success, like going platinum first week or having a record go diamond, but as long as niguhs aint broke they can still be considered a great success. Think :takedat: or :birdman:, they dont do solo numbers, but are in the top earners in hip hop EVERY YEAR.

I agree

IMPACT is the most forgotten part of the equation. IMPACT is key.

before you name GOATS or Best that ever did it.. think of their IMPACT

so before y'all say Rass Kass or whoever.. think IMPACT

Impact is def the big one ... Who changed the game?

But if you really wanna talk GOAT, you gotta look at the body of work, which includes everything even freestyles and mixtape joints... And the impact of those joints.

A BIG freestyle "I got 7 Mac elevens..." Had a huuuuge impact, gotta take it into account.

yeah, like I dont care for Pac. but his IMPACT is probably the highest of all rappers. I say that because you can look at him and say he influenced this person, that person etc...

You'll have somebody say Kendrick, but whooooooo wants to be like Kendrick? Who has Kendrick influenced? time will tell. But def not anybody we hear now

Agree, impact means a lot. That's why guys like Jadakiss have a legit claim to top MC's all time, even with a mediocre catalog. In NYC Jada is a legend, as untouchable as they get in his prime.
