China Finally Lifting Ban on Gaming Consoles
The news broke when an eagle-eyed reporter for Engadget Spanish noticed that the Playstation 3 had just gotten China Compulsory Certification, the first step needed to sell an electronic good like that in China. Considering that the console is still technically banned in the country, that's an interesting development. Not as interesting, however, as the fact that the Nintendo 3DS XL is slated to launch in December. As in, actually launch.
Now, the 3DS is a casual console, so many saw its legalization as a promising step in the right direction, but only a step. The Playstation 3 is a full-fledged console, however, and there is little anyone can say elsewise. For it to go on sale means a complete reversal of the policies China has had enacted over the last decade.
For Sony and Nintendo, this is a goldmine. Both the model of Playstation 3 and the 3DS are outdated devices, both skirting the realm of replacement with something more modern, but this is their chance to sell them as if they were new again. China is a whole new market, at least outside of the black market, and they will lap up whatever goods the game console manufacturers pour their way.
An interesting note is that both companies are Japanese. The Chinese have become increasingly cautious about employing Japanese technology as public opinion of the island nation swung towards the negative.
Of course, the Chinese government still hasn't commented on any of this. I expect we won't have any proof that they have changed their minds until it has suddenly always been the case.

I think they're culture is just different.. all asians are fukking geeks (in our sense of the word, really into video games, anime, computers, technology etc) and they have a conformist/collectivist culture.

) and they're nerdy as hell too. I go on campus and every asian brawd is walking around with hello kitty backpacks and iphones on their way to accounting class.

Come on breh. Alright, that's a decent sample size I'll admit, but making sweeping generalizations about any race is a fail. I have a few black friends about that life (no ducktales), but I don't make broad generalizations cause I know it doesn't apply to every single one.
I remember when I was in college and I brought my old xbox and I played Ninja Gaiden and one of Asian dude saw it and came in my room and he never had played Ninja Gaiden before this dude learn faster and know what to do. I was good but this dude just f*cking genius and had me

thats why I mentioned their collectivist culture.. they don't like individualism and being noticed for being different from the group, so if most of them are somewhat nerdy/techy then a lot of them are going to be, there is nothing wrong with that and of course there are always going to be outliers. Their parents are usually always strict and place a lot of emphasis on education. Again, I know this first hand because my cousins father was from singapore
This is true to a certain extent, my father used to get on me about this while I was growing up. I see this trend fading as 2nd and 3rd generation become parents and raise their kids under a much more 'western' style of parenting tho'.
indeed, it's not even like it's a bad stereotype. I always got along with asian dudes really well because I knew they'd probably be into the same stuff as me. I've never met an asian dude who wasn't really intelligent and smart.
