to cite his homeruns & RBIs is lame because historically shortstops have not been expected to produce big in those areas.. his contemporaries did, but they have dogged by steroid suspicions and failed tests

aside from that, 98-02 he was absolutely one of the top 3 at his position and what I would call "great"

how does being top 10 all-time in hits not qualify as being "right up there"? and it's not just a matter of sticking around long enough to get there cuz he averaged 180 hits/season over 18 seasons... that ain't ordinary breh :whew:

but I feel like this is all in vain, because you are obviously set in your opinion so..:yeshrug:

He was able to play at an high level for practically his whole career without the juice, played for big market Yankees and won 5 championships. Never got into any off the field issues, never got married, so he was able to smash any hoe he wanted, he might just be THE most winningest athlete ever.

Are you fukking kidding me? :what:
Hes not even like very good hitter he was a great hitter for his position
In terms of Value hes 6th all times thats with very negative values on his defense

As a SS
6th highest batting average
12th OBP
16th all time SLG
2nd all time in hits as a SS and top 10 overall
5th in HRs
2nd in Runs scored
10th in OPS

His careers numbers .313 BA 3316 Hits .828 OPS are great numbers for a shortstop

Name someone else you would rather have bat 2nd(mostly) for 2 decades than Jeter? As someone who doesnt like the yankees at all, gotta :salute: his consistency (more 200 hit seasons that T Gwynn) and leadership...

yes, playing for the yankees helped his cause, but offensively he was a beast, especially his first 5 full seasons.

and he got robbed of the MVP in 06.
