What makes illmatic a classic..

Dope beats and rhymes, no filler. Everything is dope, plus the vibe and descriptiveness, brought you into that world. It's quite a pure album, not neccesarily moralistically but artistically, he's just rhyming and writing rhymes/poetry with dope flows about everyday hood shyt. Always felt like it was a concept album to me.

Best way to tackle a troll thread is to respond with substance. If you can't articulate why you feel a certain way it only makes the person and possibly others who aren't aware feel there may be some merit to it, some people actually don't think Illmatic is good or it was solely hyped due to other factors other than the music, but it had a lot of great qualities which make it what it is. Posting
would be a bit boring, predictable and redundant, stating why you believe it's classic could actually make the thread have some interest because everyone may have a personalised take on why it's a classic to them and what made it stand out as such to them.

Listen to the music before illmatic. And when I mean listen I mean listen to every artist who was hot, go through all the old albums before Illmatic. Once you've done that listen to illmatic and you'll understand why that shyt is a classic. Listen to the albums that came out right after illmatic came out and you'll see more reasons why it's a classic. Dude changed the way people rhymed.
