Mother is into old 70's music like Marvin Gaye, Donny Hathaway, etc.

My Father is a super hardcore jazz fan. So Thelonious Monk (Monk is to Jazz is what ODB is to hip-hop imo), Coltrane, Dexter Gordon, Stanley Turrentine, McCoy Tyner, Art Blakey. Miles Davis, Shirley Scott, Lee Morgan. He actually has like 12 boxes of vinyl (that hold like 80 records) at the old house. He's a big Parliament Funkadelic fan as well

Naima is still one of my favorite Coltrane tracks

now that i sit back and be all analytical about it, me liking soulful rap tracks and jazzy mellow beats like from hip-hop producers like J Dilla (R.I.P), Black Milk, 9th Wonder, Oddisee, some Large Professor has alot to do with what was played around the house.

Not just my parents I had older siblings into music heavy too. I remember hearing everything from classic rock like Zeppelin, Hendrix, stones, cream, Beatles to Motown like Stevie, Marvin, temptations, to hip hop like run dmc, beastie boys, bdp, boot camp, Pete Rock, nwa, rakim. One of my brothers was into reggae heavy. One used to spin so I'm also into the whole disco, through dance and freestyle stuff they played in clubs in the late 70s and early 80s. Kinda explains why my taste is all over the place.

Mostly the pogues, elvis, abba and MJ.

Was a lot of irish rebel music as well. Guys like wolfe tones, dubliners and the irish brigade.
