Not a cool thread. We should be celebrating Jay Z as a business man.
Stay on code.

You’re the one who created the weird thread. Roc Nation was never even founded as hip hop label.its really pathetic; these are the times we in![]()

Well, if you don't want to listen to them, you can always ignore them and continue to discuss and listen to billboard hits while arguing about first week numbers. It costs you nothing to ignore what Mass Appeal is doing. I promise it doesn't.
Your feelings precluded you from comprehending. I said no one gives af about them from a business standpoint
I can and do love those releases—-minus the big L project——and still understand that it is not some business win. It’s a classic case of the bar being lower for Nas. Nggas clowned jay for only owning 0.1% of the Nets but Nas is a business genius for dropping a fukking Dela Soul album
You think people set the bar low for Nas?
Business-wise absolutely. For whatever reason, people view Nas as one of them. So his successes are seen as their own. No matter how small.
Whereas with Jay, his wins are met with indifference if not disdain. No matter how big. He’s TOO far above nggas.
It’s not really exclusive to rap it’s just typical “eat the rich” energy. Nevermind that Nas himself is filthy rich
Because it’s all about delivery, two people can be saying the same thing but the way they say it makes the difference in how the audience reacts…Yeah, Nas is probably gonna be the first rapper to make being a billionaire "cool". I mean nikkas was up in arms about casinos until Nas got involved.
Now nikkas is on some...well...it's gonna bring jobs and shyt![]()

I’ve been saying this for 5 years. I watched people who were talking about Jay selling out Brooklyn cheerleading Nas being the cultural face of bringing gambling to Queens as a chess piece business move as if we don’t have data on what that does to neighborhoods. Dudes entire worldviews go out the window for these dudes like when Jay had that wack ass occupy all streets. We don't need to blindly support him because he's black. If he's doing wack shyt it should be discussed. Like that current trip to Saudi Arabia, where he may be bending the knee on AI music. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and HOPE that's not the case. We'll see.
My issue is with cheerleading or hating on Nas/Jay because of a rap beef that's decades old. These guys aren't superheroes or supervillains, and we're not kids anymore.
You’re a grown man.Because it’s all about delivery, two people can be saying the same thing but the way they say it makes the difference in how the audience reacts…
Jay has always had a bourgeoise looking down feel to his profile and raps, Nas hasn’t so the average man can relate him with more. At the same breath in the music industry Jigga draws more adulation from the younger generation of rappers and singers who want to be in that position of being able to look down on everyone else…
