Beware of those akiyas and old machiyas. They are almost all structurally unsound . It's lowkey gambling with your life in a country that just had a 7.5 Earth quake and has predictions for an 8.0 in the next decade.


I'd compare them to the trash properties we got littered across the American rust belt and Appalachia which go for 10k or 20k.


The only real advantage to Japanese trash homes over American ones is you are far less likely to find a junky hunched over in the corner

Folks will ditch perfectly good houses and condos cause there was a suicide a 2 years ago or cause it wasn't built in the last decade.

Van life

Yo, my homegirl out in Atlanta did this for like a year. Sold all her possessions and just van life’d it at national parks and Home Depot parking lots. shyt was pretty cool to watch. She would have kept going but had to set up shop in Vegas for a sec. The van life subreddit is pretty dope too
