Is this just a rap thing? Cause artists in other genres be taking like 2-4 year long breaks, they release tracks every now and then but not full albums like rappers do

It's just a rap thing which is crazy cause to actually write a hip hop album should take a long time a hook and two or three sixteen bar verses can be a lot of work. Other genres of music contain shorter bars.

But it makes sense for progressives bands to take that long they're actually composing their own music and songs are at least 5 to 10 minutes long and aren't that repetitive

I'm sure it happened before Wayne but once he started going "off the top" and then his off the tops started sounding like you knew they were, everyone else was lik "I can make money and not even sound coherent" until the fans finally accept and get for it. When the EDM trap genre became popular it proved that nobody gives a fukk about a rapper anymore it's all about the beat and "drop"

I have literally re recorded multiple songs five/six times over. its pretty sadistic when you spend that much time on a song - i applaud some people who can have the confidence to spend 40min on a track. no matter how much it sucks
