Nothing replaced torrents.
Newsgroups are related but they are compliments to each other. Torrents have the best retention by far..

Torrents are still going. You need to get into a private tracker now. If you have to ask how to get into a private tracker you probably aren't getting in. You need to know people to vouch for you for that sort of thing.

I abandoned piracy when streaming became viable.
