"that's $1.37 worth of chicken you left on your plate" importance of education and smart finances are what I would try and do. just gotta raise them right and watch who they hang with. I'm not creative so maybe the wife can teach them an instrument

Respect for yourself, others, and your environment= this is key in teaching discipline. That's gonna be building block

Yup discipline is needed, and not by physical force, either. I would take my kids to volunteer missions and let them build houses and see how fortunate they are. Keep them motivated and teach them how to make money legally by the time they are 10.

I'd enroll my kids in a lot of extra curriculars (pretty much what my father did) to keep em busy. I feel like that's what'll keep kids grounded and structured too.

Just don't make reading into a chore. You got to make education as enjoyable as possible. It takes 90% of the pressure off of your parenting and makes kids learn more out of free will.
