honestly i think its a combo of lucky and drive

i dont by the talent bs...because everybody have a talent ..hell im sure we all know dudes in our hood that could've made the league or became a rapper if they applied themselves ...but the ppl that want it bad will work literately non stop into they get somewhere....the avg person have 0 drive in america....
I also call bullshyt on the drive argument :patrice:, if ur gonna put it that way in comparison to regular ppl.

Its a million ppl out here grindin super hard but just cant get their break. U look at shows like the voice and hear these stories of folks that BEEN puttin in work as singers but to no avail. While its literally artists put here who jus stepped into their deal breh. Actually u dont even have to look any further than the hood, think about the dude dat spends all day handin out his mixtape in the street. Or the guy whos life was ball but jus aint make it to the league for x or y reason :manny: its a ton of em.

I think CONNECTIONS is also a big factor as well as MARKETING.

But like u said, as a general rule we can say its a combination of all aforementioned factors. Talent + drive + connections + marketing. Edit: forgot prolly the most determining one, LUCK as well.

It's this....

I know a lot of people with drive who haven't really made it.

Luck is a HUGE factor in life whether people want to admit it or not......until you've worked really hard and have been on the wrong side of luck you won't understand.

To me the Sixers are a current example of how luck plays a huge factor.....(if Embiid doesn't get hurt, they end up with Wiggins)....there are really life equivalents to that every day.....where people make what seems to be the optimal decision (in this case, tanking for a star player) but just not getting that break.

  • Ray J coulda chose any other woman
  • Some other dude coulda been put in the same spot as Mark Zuckerburg
  • The person who discovered Giselle coulda found another beautiful young woman
  • Brady could've been drafted earlier than the Pats
  • That kid into a rich ass family in Beverly Hills coulda been born into the middle class in Iowa

The difference is those are 4 stars and I'm only giving you 1
Why? There's terrible threads on TLR. I post something worth thinking about and actually something that sparks a decent conversation and I get 1-starred. Oh well, you win some, you lose some.

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
What ingredient are we missing to become great/successful?

What stops us from being Will Smith/Kendrick Lamar/The Rock/Drake/etc?
Connections. Every single story of success contains a big push from someone major. Now you've got to come through in the clutch when you get the alley oop. But you need that push

There's better rappers. Singers. Actors. Athletes. Who never met the right person.

There's better who fukked up or werent prepared in that one moment they had to shine.

You fukk up/don't have bridges. You'll never cross the bridge to fame
