Jordan's 30 for 30 was him leaving to play baseball. So Kobe's can't be about playoffs. Instead I would think it has to be either the rape case or his rap career

i'd focus on that time, his work ethic to get back to the top, etc; this is when kobe became a legendary player. Something changed in 2008...
