OJ trial. Combined with Jurassic Park, it's how I learned what DNA was, how it is important to building living beings, and how it can be used to identify specific human beings long before I got to that point in any science class.

Had Rodney King not been beaten, the OJ Simpson trial wouldn't have been that big a deal. It was those four LA cops being acquitted of brutally beating a Black man on camera, and the ensuing Riots (LA Riots), that created the interest and anticipation of OJ Simpsons verdict.
