A Different World is one of my favorite shows of all time, but those later episodes after Whitley and Dwayne got married and already graduated were not great compared to the previous.

The show peaked when Dwayne crashed the wedding. After that, though, it just becomes a different show.

I just didn't care for the new students.

But I still loved the series finale. I almost cried
the OG episodes might've been better but A Different World was still great to the end imo :yeshrug:

Getting rid of Flex and Duane was a stupid decision. They carried half the show. Hell, I'd say the show was 70% them and 30% Briana as far as enjoyment went for me.

Family Matters is another one. The biggest problem with that show and graduation is that they obviously didn't plan for any of it. They had to destroy characters in order to keep the cast together. Urkel missed the Winslow family so much that he left his Ivy League school in order to go to Community College with the others. He'd been wanting to go to that school his whole life and it was brought up multiple times. This is the main reason I say that Steve wasn't written like he was in love with Laura towards the end of the show. He was in love with the Winslow Family dynamic. He wanted to be a member of that family since he never had a good family life. Carl was the father he never had. Eddie was the brother he never had. Estelle was the granny he never had. Harriet was the mother he never had. Richie was the little brother who looked up to him he never had. The show dropped the ball with that.

Myra was so obsessed with Steve and a genius in her own right but to keep the cast together, they had to put her in community college instead of a high quality school. They didn't even bother having her go to school with Steve for an episode and then transfer back when he did. Because that would interfere with his Winslow lust.

Laura was hurt the most. She was driven and focused through the early parts of the show. She wanted to go to Harvard for a very long time. It was brought up insanely early. She wanted to be a lawyer. She got into Harvard. But because they didn't want to split the cast up, she didn't get a scholarship and her family couldn't afford to send her to school. So now she's at community college with everyone else. She never recovered. She never gained her fire again. She just became a love interest for Steve, Stefan and Curtis. Laura stopped existing as a character and just became an interchangeable love interest. She had no autonomy of her own anymore.

Eddie was the only character that graduated and came off better for it and even that only happened at the very end of the show. He had to drop out of college in order to get a good ending when he became a cop. Everyone else was treated like shyt after High School.
Eddie became a cop?:dahell: Damn, I missed all that.

One on One. It became a completely different show and they got rid of most of the main cast because they wanted to appeal more to white people. The only replacement that carried their weight was Ray J.

With all the other shows that focused on college, at least they still felt like themselves. And they didn't get rid of most of the main characters.

Ray J was on One on One?

That must have been after I stopped watching. :pachaha:

Along these lines, One Tree Hill was some trash after they got out of school.

Man I hated One Tree Hills later seasons. Only reason I stuck around was cause of ole girl with the dimples (yes, Neo had a slight c00n inside of him back in those days). She was one of the rare white women i thought was beautiful.

But them later seasons when the evil dad became a civilized good guy and the bully brother became a nice person while Chad Michael Murray became a bad boy was terrible. Even the uncle become a bad guy if I remember correctly. Totally changed the dynamic of the show.

Not a sitcom, but Dawson's creek was unwatchable after they left high school.
Add Beverly Hills 90210 to the list

:mjtf:

The 90210 college years are when the show peaked for me. It was okay for a couple seasons after they graduated college, then it fell off when Valerie left.
