I'm a horror movie collector. My favorite horror movie of all time is a tossup between Ghostbusters and American Werewolf in London (Both are considered pioneers in the genre of Horror Comedy). However a truly scary movie is The Beacon made in 2006.

When I think of horror comedy I think of Evil Dead(1981), Evil Dead 2 and Army Of Darkness.

I saw Ghostbusters as a kid and wasnt scared of anything on the screen. The same with Gremlins.

"Return Of The Living Dead" scared me as a kid and that would also fall in the category of comedy horror.

Most times I'm not feeling ghosts or demon horror movies either. I like Cannibal/Zombie type horror movies the most. My favorites are (with rating):

Hills Have Eyes (9/10)
28 Days Later (9/10)
28 Weeks Later (7/10)
Chernobyl Diaries (8/10)
Stag Night (8/10)
The Colony (8/10)
The Descent (7/10)

Some of these have low IMDB scores but I highly recommend them.

***BTW I know you didn't want ghost/demon movies but I'd recommend Woman in Black, IT, and Silent Hill.

You are correct but Ghostbusters get's over looked because the leads are all comedic actors and it's not on the same level as a R rated horror/comedy, but it did have some scary moments such as the beginning with the ghost in the library and when them hands burst out the chair and hold down Sigourney Weaver. I mean it's more comedy than horror and obviously its PG so there is a zone they didn't go but its still has some scary parts even if you didn't considering them scary

Did u know that Eddie Murphy was originally supposed to play Winston? Dan Aykroyd was speaking on it recently. Eddie was tied up with Beverly Hills Cops but can u imagine how ill Ghostbusters would have been if Eddie played Winston. It would have been a whole different movie because he would have stolen the show.

I am Ghostbuster buff, yes I knew that. Another reason they didn't want Eddie is because Bill Murray was a Huge comedy star too and they didn't know if two megastars would work on the same team (think AI and Carmelo on Denver, both need the rock to be effective).

Did you know Dan Aykroyd got the idea from Ghostbusters from his own family. His father and grandfather were into the supernatural and chased ghost in real life. In fact the Tobin's Spirit Guide they reference in the movie is a real book his family used that historically noted supernatural occurrences throughout history.

The Woman
props for May. I love that movie. I wouldn't really call it "scary", just weirdly unique.

and +33 on Babadook. i liked that film as well. They did a great job with the creepy auditory aspect. If you have trouble understanding the ending, google the explanation.

Also, if you're looking for that creepy element, google "supernatural thriller" or "atmospheric horror". That should take out some of the BS gore movies that aren't shyt.
