The fact the mods in this section actually listen to those people who dont contribute, who never brought nothing to the table. It makes it so I can never even make 1 thread. And thats BECAUSE THE MODS DON'T DO THERE JOBS HERE. Now I remember what you told me before

Sony's PS3 has been hacked.

Perhaps "hacked" is the wrong word, because it can imply both criminality and lawful exploration. But we'll stick with "hacked" here, in the sense of "some reverse engineers have figured out how you can adapt, or jailbreak, your PS3 to make it interoperable with software of your own choice."

The PS3 has been hacked before, but Sony was able to inhibit the hack with an update to its own firmware. This is much like the history of jailbreaking on Apple's iOS, where hackers typically uncover a security vulnerability and exploit it, whereupon Apple patches the hole and suppresses the jailbreak.

But the latest PS3 break is being dubbed unpatchable and the final hack.

That's because this hack isn't giving you an exploit to use against a programming hole. It's giving you Sony's so-called LV0 (level zero) cryptographic keys.

The PS3 system software loads up as shown in the picture below:

The Level Zero (LV0) loader is the mother of all field-updatable firmware components in the PS3 bootstrap process. It orchestrates the loading, and the cryptographic verification, of all the modules underneath it. As long as the LV0 loader remains the way Sony wants it, you get to run only what Sony wants you to.

Pirated games won't load, which is good for rights holders. But Linux, for example, won't run either, which is bad for you. Why shouldn't you run lawfully-acquired software of your choice on your own computer? [*]

With the LV0 keys now published, you can - at least in theory - replace the LV0 loader and run whatever you like, because you can authorise your own custom firmware (CFW). The PS3's most-secret cat is out of the bag.

Incidentally, the publication of the LV0 keys was not without some controversy and finger-pointing amongst the reverse engineering and CFW community.

It seems as though a hacking and reversing posse known as the Three Musketeers worked out the LV0 keys some time ago. Since they were, in their own words, "done with PS3 now anyways," they just sat on the information.

I know you THOUGHT sony regained control, but they then lost it again a few months later. Since sony didn't speak on it, there is no story to talk about.

Same with all the negative backlash that about the Xbox One. Sony says nothing, so the fanboys make up there own conclusions. Thats how sony has always operated (if you pay attention)

we dont moderate the content of posts outside of spam, porn, graphic shyt etc

so im not quite sure what youre asking for? :wot:

what gets deemed as spam is relatively up to the moderators of each section, thankfully my #Gym folks take it easy on me

If they really dead used games, I think I'm done with consoles after this current era. I'm getting older anyway (24), so I can't spending unnecessary amounts on gaming.I still game from time to time because I'll stumble on good games in gamestop or whatever but I'm not trying to game 70 bucks on a wack game that I cant get anything for.

We all know its a running gag if you will, but now its become unfair to me as a poster because I can't speak on any topic unless its to bash the xbox. I have a ps3, I don't use it for these reasons. I won't get a PS4 unless they address these issues.

As a proud owner of a Playstation Branded Blu-ray player which can also play games, I also have an Xbox. So I have to compare my experiences with both consoles and my biggest gripe about PS3 games is how boring PSN is. From its bland overall setup, to its lack of security, to its no rhyme or reason when it comes to matchmaking. You notice the difference if you have both. If you don't, you just brush it off as identical. Only thing identical is fatboi1 lagging out of games So for me, If PSN isn't talked about in great detail? There is no reason to even get a PS4 (Real Talk)

The other thing it will have to do (and this doesn't affect me in the slightest) is damage control. Thats what Xbox been going thru, and people on this site seem to be forgetting Sony will have to do the same. They will reveal things today that PSfanboys will not like. PSN being free? They will make it so you'd rather pay than not.. lets just put it that way. And the used games thing? They already said its up to the developers just like Microsoft said. But the masses haven't put 2 and 2 together yet. Once its known both systems will have the same or similar "restrictions" people are gonna question why did sony answer like they did months ago. Like I said, this news will affect all of you guys who like stanning/etc. I already expected all this years ago so thats why I'm good.
