Safe Storage Laws = Stricter laws about how/where guns can be kept. Usually requires that guns be either stored in a locked container, or to have the trigger lock disabled when not in use. If you get caught improperly storing a gun you can get fined, lose your gun license, etc.
Red Flag Laws = If you believe someone is a danger to others or themselves (for example they're suicidal) you can go before a judge and request to have their gun temporarily confiscated. Authorities can also request this from a judge. The idea is that it's preventative since you don't have to wait for something bad to happen.
