What steps? I had been studying for mine on and off for years. Went to Itt tech for a little less than a semester and left(due to high tuition for a 2 year program). Throughout it all, i was studying the book and watching youtube videos. They recently [august 2013] changed the format again so the new one is going to be slightly more tougher than the series i obtained. Really, all you need to do bro is study the book and watch professor messor videos on YouTube. Hes amazing and a lot of what he went over was on the exam. The hardware is the easiest one but if i were you, id take them all at the same time because the longer you wait [i waited 2 years almost ], the more you forget. Working my first IT job right now.

1.) Sure, that looks helpful. How good with tech are you, currently? You ever upgrade computers? I mean, so you know what I mean when I say; RAM, CPU, expansion slots, power connections, fans, batteries, motherboard, and software like Operating System startup, boot process, etc? If so, then you probably can get away with just studying online and then winging the test. If not, then you may want to actually take a course at a community college. I guarantee that your nearest community college has a few class.

2.) None. It's not my field. I'm good at it, but there is more money to be made with my Engineering brehs.

3.) A+ is the base line for getting hired;

Net+ is the next step. HR reps seem to consider that to be "Advanced"

Security+ is next. HR reps seem to think Sec+ is "advanced" but any one who actually does security work looks down on the Sec+ as way too easy, too shallow. Get it anyway.

CCNA is an awesome Cert to get into network setup and maintenance.

If you want to make serious cash go for VMWare certification. That is where the boom is right now.

4.) There are lots of them. Start with C+ then move to Java. Python is nice after that.

The Truth
You either need degree + certs or experience + certs

A+ is really basic, entry level. And I think it's changed, you no longer need to know about the history of OS's and all that other shyt... I think

I got mines in 2005. Just read the book, professormesser can help. It shouldn't take no more than a couple months if that.

I remember I got my A+ Cert in high school, nikkas acted like I had a perfect SAT score or something. If you have basic computer knowledge, it's easy to pass.

im pretty good when it comes to tech. i think i would be better suited taking a class. im able to watch videos and perform any computer upgrades. but good looks on the info. i already called to book a sit down with this community college to talk about options

im tryna be about this cert life
