Rappers need to be self aware and take responsibility for this word. In the 90s...it wasn't often because white kids still listened to rock music majorly with a sprinkle of hip hop. I swear hip hop went pop when eminem and big pimpin came out.
Rock music is completely dead now, and hip hop is the new POP. The scope of attention has shifted towards rappers on a worldwide level. People can believe what they want but 14 yr old white kids in Jacksonville wasn't bumping pac like 14 yr old white kids are bumping ASAP now.
White kids respected the culture more back in the days...now they've grown up into it and dont care to police themselves.

Whatever nikka. Nobody said that Older generations of White people didn't use the word(******). The question was what up with all these white kids using the N word. You know why but you wanna ignore it that's on you. Asians, Hispanics, Indian, Arab kids are all saying the n word...fukk you think that came from? You got white kids calling each other nikka and using it as a term of endearment.
Parents of all races not educating their kids about the word. You got little kids who literally do not know the history/implications of the word. Our little kids, brothers, cousins and nephews are going around calling whites, asians, hispanics, etc. "my nikka" and not checking when they use the word back. It also doesn't help that it's used a lot in tv/movie/online videos and in music.

Hip Hop, like ANY artform, is a reflection of a culture (not necessarily black). The word didn't originate in Hip Hop, I don't understand the rationale of criticizing artists who describe their environment without criticizing the enviroment itself. Black people (our own community) were saying 'nikka' LONG before rap ever existed, Hip hop might be popularizing it but to say it's rampant usage is SOLELY because of hip hop is being shortsighted. And the irony of you calling me a nikka in that very post isn't lost on me either

i understand that the n word is a sensitive issue but the thing is, nikka has just become a slang word and slang is cool to kids now. when nigg-A is said its just slang for person. ive heard kids say shyt like "that chinese nikka dumb" or "that white nikka was drunk!" n shyt like that. i get all the history and believe me if i heard a white kid calling his black friend a nigg-ER i would be one of the ones to be like chill on that but nigg-A is just a product of hip hop's popularity.
