Bars

it seems like he only focuses on flows/riding the beat, which he doesn't even do that well on the album, and forgets that the bars deserve attention too. i hated this album lyrically, all them "uh's" and shyt, smh, when the flow is too choppy it just makes u sound like u got no bars.

I like Jay and consider myself a fan but I'm just not interested in hearing him rap anymore :manny:.

There's always a million threads on Jay but what y'all are expecting from him is not realistic for where he's at in his career. He's not gonna drop another American Gangster or a Hip Hop Is Dead type of album. He's just looking to make records that are hot for now where he can still make headlines and sell out shows.

nikkas just need to accept that and keep it moving
basically this..............

I dont expect nothing great from him no more. He aint got it no more. I been accepted it

It's a typical came album: sounds amazing the first week, then by the second week, you realize the hype machine is what clogged your eardrums:yeshrug:

The Blueprint has 3 or 4 questionable tracks on it.

The Black Album has 4 or 5 questionable tracks on it.

Reasonable Doubt has ... You guessed it.

The few tolerable tracks are mere copies of something monumental.
What are the questionable tracks on RD and BP?

Just a lack of depth, IMO. Dude had dope beats, dope concepts, but he would never dig to make those concepts really deliver - it's like he would skate on the fact that he even had a concept, instead of really delivering. Strongest example is Heaven: crazy beat, dope concept...but when he really starts to get into religion, he just starts talking about money again :snoop:

It's still a good album, just not his best work

you know something ain't right with your album, when the production gets talked about more than your lyrics. :smh: i mean all you did was choose the beats. you didn't make them.
but you (jay) were responsible for the lyrics and well they just are not up to standard.
add to this the ridiculously grandiose album title, album never had a chance of living up to the hype.

album would be ok for most other rappers but for jay standards :scusthov::scusthov::scusthov:(especially if you consider he did not have to worry about album sales due to samsung deal) i thought the deal would free him artistically and we would get some heat, but didn't happen!!!!!!
