and it wasn't as hyped as illmatic was
Illmatic was a monster in the tri state but didn't have an 'Ain't No nikka' or post Biggie/Nas template like Reasonable Doubt did. 1996 was much different than 1994 for NY-centric albums.
and it wasn't as hyped as illmatic was
Reasonable Doubt went Gold in it's calendar year. It was a huge success story.

Never the less, it took about the same time as Illmatic to go platinum.

You're moving the goal posts to Stan Nas. Bad look.
The thread is about Nas L's. I'm a Nas fan, not a stan. Nas is my man, but I can seperate the man from the musician, and as such, I recognize that Nas has taken many L's. Pointing out Nas L's is just joshing, capping, or joining, not hating. First of off, I responded to someone who said Illmatic taking 7, or 8 years to go platinum was a L. Thats not a L, thats just plain hating. The poster who said this was probably a Jay stan. It's hyprocital to say Illmatic taking a long time to go platinum is a L, when Reasonable Doubt took a long time to go platinum. Both Illmatic, and Reasonable Doubt, even though I don't like Jay, are two of the most influential albums ever recorded. Muddy Waters, and Robert Johnson were two of the most influential blues musicians, if not musicians of all time. If you listen to, or read articles, interviews with British musicians from the 60's, and 70's, Eric Clapton, the Rolling Stones, Joe Cocker, Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin, will all say that they were influenced by these black musicians, whether it was R&B, early rock, or blues musicians. These British musicians have gone on to sell tens of millions of records. By your logic, these blues musicians, because they didn't sell millions of records, all took L's, despite the fact they are legends. Either you're on meth, or just stupid, either way you should cancel your coli account. Anyone who thinks Illmatic taking a while to go platinum is a dumbass idiot.
