I'd definitely give it to Killzone 2. Even if they ended up delivering on the promise years later (and one could argue exceeded it), at the time it was just the biggest bullshyt ever.

Outside of the ridiculous smoke effects in the 2005 trailer there's a lot of stuff the final game actually accomplished, and its physics engine (hit detection and death animations especially) were first rate.

KZ2 was definitely misleading, but to Sony's credit, I found that KZ3 actually looks better aside from the fire affect and animation.
