Last year at the Royal Rumble is when it became obvious that Romey Rome had that VKM rocket up his ass to the main event. The E fukked up by bringing Daniel Bryan back around that time because everyone wanted to see him in the main event again at WM to wrestle for the title he never lost to begin with. But we know Vince wouldn't let Bryan and the fans force his hand two years in a row because he's a stubborn old b*stard(well, he also didn't have a main event talent tell him and his son-in-law to kiss his ass and walk out either last year).
It doesn't matter if Bryan came back or not...the fans were still more into Dean Ambrose and Ziggler and even Sandow...forgot about that? LOL.

Somewhere around late '14...

Cause people forget, they BEEN had him running thru people so that can't really be it. He took out a whole damn team at Survivor Series '13, they cheered. Threw out 12 muhfukkas at the '14 Rumble, people cheered. When the Shield busted Evolution's ass, he was over. they broke the Shield up, and one time he faced off w/ HHH, crowd was ready for that to happen.

I think the turning point for him was when he was clearly being pushed toward the title and everyone wanted Bryan to come back and win the title. Add that to his increased mic time and lack of mic skills (that Jack & the Beanstalk promo was :snoop:). And being selected 'Superstar of the Year' 2014, the writing was on the wall... then the Rumble happened. It ain't been the same since.

Rumble 2014. They underestimated the IWC's ability to see when they're rushing a process. Of course no one knew Bryan was as bad off as he was but they should've tried to finish that story as best they could then move forward with Reigns

It was working with him being "Goldberg" in the shield, fans want THAT if they insist on him being babyface, to this day he gets good reactions when he shows a mean streak (he's got great expressions, look how he gazed at Ambrose on the way outta the ring last night)

They wanted to rush the process and add too many sprinkles while doing it
...i knew bryan was that worse off but i see your point

Before that. When they used ziggler as a placeholder to fill in for him in 2014 and kept having him do more and more promos and interviews while not letting him grow into his role. I think he would've been a good choice to face Rusev last year instead of cena. Showcase two young guys and it doesn't overexpose them. Instead the both of them suffered.

Yeah like Shawn and Razor building themselves up in the intercontinental title stage don't know why WWE skips that stage for future main eventers

Intercontinental title used to mean what money in the bank is today... Your next up

Thing about the IC title, around the late-90s/Attitude Era when there was a new IC champion every week and a half, it stopped meaning that. And even tho' it was/is still occasionally used as a 'next up' title, it's very rarely been used effectively the way they used to. Granted, you had your Jeff Jarrett/Honky Tonk/etc. types who were never gonna be main eventers, but it still put someone in a good spot if they were IC champ. It eventually became a prop that got thrown from person to person whether they were over or not. It probably woulda been a good way to build Reigns after the Shield split, but they just opted to throw him straight to the main event.

When they decided to make him a monster face without testing the waters with the crowd.

Rocky had to PAY DUES in order to become a monster face. Crowds hated him at first, so they gave him some of the best heel booking in the business before FINALLY allowing the Peoples Champion to rule the roost as a face.

The crowd bought into Austin waaaaay before he "officially" became a top face.

Hogan was the most over wrestler in the US before Hulkamania was coined. Hear other wrestlers tell it and he was an absolute drawing force... Wrestlemania made him and he made Wrestlemania.

Crowds were going nuts for Warrior when he was Warrioring his way to the IC championship... it became obvious that if anyone could accept the torch of all the adoring 10 year olds from Hulk, it was Warrior so he got the WM6 favours.

Roman is very much still a work in progress... in the words of JBL "he has everything a champion needs" APART from a connection and emotional history with the crowd. That can only come with time and good mid-card booking (a bit more like what Ambrose has had). You can only make someone a monster face if the crowd's already with you... you don't base your whole corporate business model around someone and THEN inform the fans. Especially if the fans have rejected the idea on multiple occasions.

The only true booking option for Roman is a leave of absence right now. Send him on 6 months of dark matches and Make A Wish appearances and have him reappear when everyone's least expecting it to demolish whoever is the crowd's darling by then. Give him the silk-shirt Corporate Rock push, turn the swag up and let him swim in the Roman Sucks chants for at LEAST a year.

They started having him cut promos in an effort to let him show off a personality that he doesn't have.

Don't forget, he was OVER as the man of few words ass-kicker in the Shield. There was no reason to deviate from that because that's what he's good at. He's not a good talker, he's not very charismatic.

Keep it simple, stupid.

Oh, and of course, there's the fact that they were trying to force Reigns on people when they wanted DB.

Roman needs to go heel. Not a corporate puppet heel either, a lone wolf type.

And this.
