They started having him cut promos in an effort to let him show off a personality that he doesn't have.

Don't forget, he was OVER as the man of few words ass-kicker in the Shield. There was no reason to deviate from that because that's what he's good at. He's not a good talker, he's not very charismatic.

Oh, and of course, there's the fact that they were trying to force Reigns on people when they wanted DB.

But this is Vince's, "I turned(forced) a rapping John Cena into a fan-favorite regular guy" ego that thinks he can do the same for Reigns.

The reality is, everyone who boos Cena wishes he'd go back to his old character, or at least incorporate it occasionally.

I think he would've been a good choice to face Rusev last year instead of cena. Showcase two young guys and it doesn't overexpose them. Instead the both of them suffered.

Thank god. I was about to make a post that I had absolutely nothing to add to this GOAT thread until this post. I like and hate the Superman Punch. It's just used too often and not even a finisher.

I think Roman needs another finisher and pulls out the Superman Punch randomly as setup for the MDK spear or whatever his finisher is, and he never uses it as a heel. I want it to be a finisher, but I can't see it being like a Brogue Kick or SCM. Maybe if he worked on the mechanics of it to make it look faster and stronger (hesitation before midair super rapid punch).

But definitely don't completely get rid of it

Alright so, the rumble win was clearly THE moment where Vince screwed this up...but boy oh boy has it been hard to wipe the stench of this promo from my mind.

Roman doesn't have a good enough personality to do what they are trying to make him do.

I really don't even know why they think he can fit into a Cena mold...they look and act completely differently from one another. You can probably mold a "top guy" from Roman's attributes...but he'll seemingly be different from any other top guy we've seen before, and he definitely won't mirror Cena.

I agree with the "lock and loaded" thing, and have to add, in a more general sense...I'm sick of MOST of that crap, from MOST of the roster. They need to cool it in general on the canned gestures and such. Not every single person on the roster needs one.

Probably at the start. He just isn't that good, mic skills are poor, in ring ability such as move set, selling, emotion isn't very good; he isn't that big/strong despite how much the comms tell you he is. It's obvious he's Cena 2.0 despite there being more rewarding superstars who deserve it, you've got guys like Heyman saying he's better than Austin/Rock/Hogan; he stills uses the Shied gimmick which makes no sense, and he still gets this monster push despite how much the crowd just aren't that behind him. Also WWE's stubbornness to turn him heel.

So yeah, I think the exact point was the start, because he should have realised that he isn't that good right at the beginning.

Roman Reigns could definitely be the top face they're looking for. They just want his only dirt to be with The Shield, who were face when they broke up. That's a hard thing to do, when most of Roman's traits are heelish. He seriously needs to go heel and have a respect feud or double turn.

At any rate, the poster who said he should go away a while is right. Too much speculation about his push is magnifying his flaws. Don't blame people for finding out when it's posted everywhere. You can't even look at TSC's home page, w/o seeing a minimum of 3 spoilers.

Still, Dean got over despite a very weak beginning of having to carry the Rollins' feud too long because Roman got hurt. It just takes time and good writing. It's obvious that Roman knows that every promo will be scrutinized to all hell, and he's trying to get it perfect. It just ain't happening. He's snake bitten at the top, but way too big now to work in the midcards. He doesn't need Sheamus sabbaticals, but something to reset the clock, and a splash return.
