What was the reaction like when Run DMC switched up their style?

I don't think people were mad, but with Onyx, Wu, Snoop, Redman, Nas, they couldn't keep up like that. Also crazy, they were never signed to Def Jam.

It’s fuzzy cause I was stealing my older cousins tapes, so I don’t know the timeline. It would have to be between Spice 1, Onyx or maybe Black Moon. The fact that albums had such a long life also makes it fuzzier.
