nikkas kill me with these instant classics. I say you gotta let it bubble at least a year.

I would say the last album I wpuld consider classic would be Reloaded by Roc Marciano.
Excellent choice

Doggystyle,Chronic,Ready to Die,Illmatic etc..we're instant classic status. By this logic nobody could call those albums classic until the late 2000's :dahell:

I heard Illmatic in 2003 for the first time and was listening to it endlessly by 2004. No one was calling it "classic". It was just "yo this is a great album". I didn't see all the write-ups and major classic talk till the late 2000s. Years after.

Be by Common, MBDTF by Ye, and maybe GKMC. Mixtape wise - I still think 1999 by Joey Badass is classic. I'll throw So Far Gone there but it's authenticity is in question.

What came to mind was stillmatic Nas saying "My first album had no famous guest appearances. The outcome? I'm crowned the best lyricist"

And Jay even alluding to how amazing it was on a legendary disstrack, both in 2001

But most importantly

This love hate mistakes joint where the nikka actually said word for word, in 2002,

"WE WAS A CLASSIC LIKE NAS AND ILLMATIC" :dead:

Thread title says "last", so I'll roll with the past 2 years or so and try not to echo too many other posters:

My Krazy Life
Days Before Rodeo (though it's a mixtape)
SremmLife

Two projects that I listened to on a whim and thought "These are artist-defining, refreshingly original, and exhibit a progressive sound that'll probably influence other artists."

With "SremmLife", I can totally see someone playing that album years from now after Rae Sremmurd has grown up and going, "Aayyyy....there was nothing but hits on here!" :leon:

TPAB might be the most recent that has that sound, miles ahead of GKMC and the impact will be huge in the coming years
