It's hard out here being black man. I remember my senior year I applied to dozens of jobs and no one would hire me. I knew it was because I was in Miami and I'm not Hispanic.

I finally ended up holding a sign in the street for a restaurant. Wasn't too bad. I would just read the whole time. One day this kid I went to middle school with passed by with his uncle who's a cop. He told me later his uncle said "That n1gger probably didn't even get an education, that's why he's out on the street."

My dude replied "You know, that was actually the smartest kid in our class and he's going to Georgia Tech to be an engineer."

Another:

Summer after my first year of undergrad I interned for Microsoft. They flee me first class from Miami to Seattle. I had never flown first class before so I didn't know how everything worked. I started going down the first class bad check and one of the Hispanic airport women tells me "sir the line for coach is over there."

My dad was so heated. I was too. This stuff...I'll never forget. I'm making moves now and it just pushes me further.

Work in a lab. Dress is very casual. Management dresses up when auditors are in house. Just got promotion. Come to work in dress shirt, tie, slacks like all other members of management. All day cacs ask me if I got to go court or am preaching somewhere after work

My first real job in highschool(17 yrs old) working for Redwing shoes I was working for the outlet mall store in Round Rock

The manager would always tell the assistant manager to make sure everything was locked up tight. "I don't need woneal512 and his homeboys pulling into the back of the store with a truck and filling it up with work boots one night."- What my assistant manager told me

I thought me and the assistant manager was cool until another black dude was hired and he kept on being late to work cause he could never really find a babysitter for his kids.

Well one sunday shift "Jean" was late but this time he was extra late.... My assistant manager is pissed talking about he's gonna fire jean and he was looking extremely pissed off. So eventually the store is flooded with people and we don't have enough employees to help everyone. My assistant manager looks me dead in the face grinning and says, "HEY WHERE IS YOUR HOMEBOY AT!!!"

I was shocked and could only respond with, "First of all he's not my homeboy he's my coworker" And I just walk off and don't talk to him or anybody else for the rest of the day.

The other white female coworker that was there later tried to apologize for his comments

As black man (not mix) I've had racist experience with all groups but I refuse to hold it against a whole group.

The most racist comments always come from my own people....especially when I went to a black college in florida, students, teachers making racist comment too......

When I went to college down south that was the first time I've ever been call light skin (I'm not light skin) I'm very brown skin.

Also my teacher made a comment reference somehow that I was half white......(I'm not mixed)

I started working at a hospital 4 months ago, black man was in charge of training me, I swear the first three weeks, every single day this man asked me "so are you really black".
