houston.
Pretty forgettable for the most part. My high school had built a 9th grade center so I was in there with all the rest of the freshmen class. I was really wanting to see what them junior and senior females look like :shaq:

I was super nervous. All my friends from middle school went to a different school. I called my mom at lunch lol. It was the most hood school I had ever been to. :heh:

I don't remember what I wore, I remember my schedule wasn't ready so I was in the gym most of the day. Someone asked me if I had a brother, people kept asking me that, and there was some boy they said it looked like we were related. I was self conscious about them having the door open at dance class and guys peeking in the class room. I remember being mad they didn't close the door.

"There's always next year, fellas." - The headcoach.

:mjlol:

If you went to a school like mine, that made it even worse, because for the most part they kept the same core throughout frosh/junior varsity/and varsity. You had one chance to make an impression freshman year. Them nikkas knew they were never getting another shot. :dead:
Sound like my school, I tried in Sophmore year too so the odds was already against me :aicmon:

Man I had one homeboy this nikka was 6'4 did summer conditiong and went to all the basketball workouts during football season and the beginning of school and the nikka got cut each year. But He ended up getting on the team January our senior year because they lost 6 players to a drug test

I got clowned(or he attempted to clown me) by this dude named Derrick Lamb.He was a Jr, but he was a lil scrawny dude.

It was lunch break, so a lot of nikkaz used to go hoop in the gym.I was on the sideline with my cousin(who was a sophomore) eating my nachos and just observing.I'm glancing around and just soaking up the atmosphere when I see this lil nikka with a fukked up/ dried up perm out on the court trying to hoop it up.

So I turn to my cuzz like "Who's this nikka with the Malcolm Little perm?:heh:"....I said it in a real mild/round about kind of way, though.Wasn't really trying to clown. It just hit me that the nikka looked Like Malcolm before the X and I made a remark about it.

I just remember my cousin looking at me with his mouth stretched open like:krs::ooh:...............:youngsabo:

nikka yelled out " Hey Derrick, this nikka just went in on your hair, dawg....said you looking like Malcolm Little out there:russ:"

Basically throwing me under the bus and instigating shyt.Lil did I know, this lil Derrick dude was known as the top Roaster at the school. He was the holder of the crown since his freshmen year.nikkaz "in the know" would never dare test him.

I guess that got boring and nikkaz missed out on the entertainment value of him roasting cats.To the point where my own cousin was ready to make me a blood sacrifice.

I should've known the nikka had some fire power behind him.No way could you just go around looking like that and not have anybody try to call you out on it.

He got me that day...from my warbdrobe to my shoes.nikka didn't miss a spot.

It's all about who you know

Occasionally, you could get on the team later down the line, but it was rare. Unless you shot up 4-5 inches, they lost a player to academic probation/transfer, or your game improved considerably, the coaches really were :ld: during tryouts and mainly focused on keep the group intact and developing chemistry.

Makes sense, but it is fukked up how they instilled false hope every year. Like you said, they pull this at a lot of schools. I had transferred to a prep school, but I didn't have to participate in tryouts my senior year because I had been on varsity since I was a sophomore. Still came to the tryouts to spectate and the coaches weren't even watching the varsity tryouts, for real. Dudes were trying out as juniors going hard, too. :mjlol:

:what: :dead: I wouldn't have even wanted to play if that's what it took for them nikkas to finally give me a jersey. How tall were the guys on the team? You're pretty much automatically on the squad at a lot of schools if you're above 6'3 unless you go to some of the top athletic schools out north where the average height of the staring PG is 6'2-6'4.

It was an abundance of tall nikkas at our school so you really had to be a hooper to make the team. It was like 4 more dudes in the same boat working out each year to get cut. All them nikkas got called up that January and I never seen nikkas more proud to not win a single game in my life . Like we was 18-0 before the drug test finished the season 18-12 :mjlol:

Weird. I had just moved from Connecticut to North Carolina. Never had class in a trailer before. The number of white students severely dwarfed the number of black students. Had to go out to the boondocks for class. I was use to northern culture and ways about things. While the students were cool and all, I had a disconnect; I wasnt from around there, most of the students (like practically all) were white and lived in an area of town that it took a certain level of economics to reside in while i was bused in. Never felt right at northwest Guilford high school...
lol greensboro huh?

I went to a school that was far from my crib and was mostly white. Felt like I was in the twilight zone

then I passed a group of nikkas who ended up clowning my dusty avia shoes :dead:

7th grade was the worst school year I had. nikkas harassing me daily cause I "act/talk white" while cacs wondered why I didn't act like most of the ignorant black dudes in my class :comeon: shytty teachers, classes and I had a huge fallout with friends I had for years over some bullshyt . 8th grade at the middle school across town was :blessed: Total opposite. Best school year I had. Everything was going good for me that year. So in August 1996 when freshmen from both of those middle schools are now going to the same high school, shyt felt mad awkward on the first day. Both 9th graders from both schools hated each other so there was a lot of adjusting to do when we had classes / sports together.

That 9th grade year ended :ehh: Just the first few days were an adjustment
7th grade was the WOAT grade year for me as well :ohhh: but for different reasons though.

Always seems like on message boards people are always :sadcam: about JHS. For some reason kids are :demonic:as hell in middle school

3 and 4th grades and Junior/Senior was the GOAT grade years to me :banderas:

I was shocked how smoothy certain aspects of HS went... as I went to grade school with flatbush kids and I went to middle school with those Bed Stuy kids which are far more gully than the Flatbush kids I went to school with.

My HS was just as hood as JHS and yet the environment was more chill. I mean they had kids from every hood in my HS, CI, ENY, Brownsville, Crown Heights, Bed Stuy and Flatbush.
