He was on them streets, then in rehab in San Diego for a little while.

What a lot of people don't know is that Suga Free is a real, true to life pimp. Rap is secondary to him. That's what went "wrong" with him.
I guess I meant more in terms of quality of music. Street Gospel is fire front to back. His albums after dont come close.

I disagree WHOLEHEARTEDLY...

I also think Street Gospel is a classic, but I think he came back even harder on The New Testament,
and I think Just Add Water has the deepest Free songs. Sunday School and Smell My Finger aren't
as good as those, but they have some strong cuts as well. Free still tight - I heard him on that 40 & Too
Short album and he still put it down...i'm just wondering where he's at...

I think all 4 of those albums are great . . like really great, he's a great artist.

Anyone ever see DJ Quik comment on his writing process? He's obviously a thinker and he's pulling stuff from deep within, psychoactive substances might have a lot to do with that. This guy also lives way out in the Inland Empire near Barstow, I don't know what that says about him

To me him and Mac Dre have the highest level of character, replay value and and all-around entertaining music. The thing is if you play Mac Dre's music around a girl him and Suga Free could say the exact same thing but Mac Dre says it in a way that doesn't offend the girl. His character is more clown-ish where Suga Free is offensive

Gotta agree with this The New Testament was one of the many great underground albums to come out of the west coast in the early 00's... My only problem with it was it didn't have the track with the Morris Day sample "Cool".. Still a great album.

Because the minute you play around your girl she's like "Oh so this is what he thinks?" . . because playing music means you endorse every single point of view in the lyrics
