I thought they were funny, but, with time, I saw they were the safe negros to give white folks a place to approach race issues without feeling guilty.

You know who they make them painfully corny monologues for right? The folk that lap up them innane observations and unfunny musings they do before the skits start?This is one of THEIR sketches.

This. I’d say K&P had a 50-60% hit rate. They had some legitimately funny stuff. And a lot of flops. Look at SNL. Atrocious for 20+ years and people like it.
Their hit rate is way higher than SNL. Sketch comedy isn't easy. Even Chappelle had some weak ones but his high points were so far ahead of anything else people forget about them.
I'm not talking about the series, I'm talking about this particular skit only.
