She turned out over 1m voters (1,034,096) vs Talarico 1.1m (1,188,253) and lost by 154k. Are all those people clueless of what issues/policy she supports? Are they just driven by a cult of personality? She did that without strong backing from party insiders and establishment donor networks. Most of her campaign funding came from her House campaign account. Talarico benefited from small donations of course, but there were also pro-Talarico aligned super PAC that was funded by wealthy donors and dark‑money groups who spent millions on advertising supporting him and attacking Crockett.
Talarico + aligned Super PAC spent $25m
Crockett + aligned Super PAC spent $5.5m (less than $500k coming from the PAC).
She was the AIPAC candidate despite not taking any donations from them while Talarico took a donation from Miriam "we must annex the West Bank" Adelson.
I don't know why he was being treated as the underdog or the honest progressive champion, especially when she supported the same progressive Democratic policies and also emphasized racial equity initiatives, and secured federal funding for her district. I guess that doesn't count though and it was because of the cult of personality.

Texas Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico has vowed to ban super PACs if elected, yet a super PAC called Lone Star Rising PAC funded by dark money groups and Democratic billionaires has spent millions on negative ads against Talarico's primary opponent, Rep. Jasmine Crockett. The super PAC was formed by Talarico's close friend Alexander Clark just a week after Talarico launched his campaign, raising questions about potential coordination.
The Lone Star Rising PAC has deployed nearly $3.7 million in negative ads against Talarico's primary opponent, Rep. Jasmine Crockett, since early February. The super PAC received a $500,000 donation from billionaire Reid Hoffman, who had a relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Other prominent donors to the pro-Talarico super PAC include hedge fund manager Stephen Mandel, Hyatt Hotel heir Adam Pritzker, Eagles drummer Don Henley, former Biden White House official Cristobal Alex, and private equity billionaire Mark Heising.
- Lone Star Rising PAC was formed on September 2, 2025.
- Talarico launched his Senate campaign one week later, on September 9, 2025.
- The super PAC received a $500,000 donation from billionaire Reid Hoffman in late January 2026.
- The super PAC deployed nearly $3.7 million in negative ads against Talarico's opponent since early February 2026.
The latest campaign finance reports show big-money interests are heavily invested in the Texas primaries — but unwilling to reveal their identities at a critical juncture of the race.

A super PAC supporting one of the Democratic candidates, James Talarico, reported $6.1 million in contributions from Jan. 1 through Feb. 11. But more than half that came from a political action committee that was entirely funded by a dark money group on its last monthly report.
The pro-Talarico super PAC, Lone Star Rising PAC, disclosed that it got $3.75 million of its money for the period from another super PAC called Government That Works PAC. That group’s report for January showed that it received $4 million from the Sixteen Thirty Fund, a
leading dark-money hub for Democrats that has previously been associated with Swiss billionaire Hansjörg Wyss and Democratic megadonor George Soros.
The hypocrisy is stunning. The narrative around this primary just reeks of the kind of contempt I've been noticing from some segments of the Democratic party (voters, insiders, strategists). The double standards and selective complaining about "IDPOL" while people defend the folksy Nazi-friendly guy in Maine playing white identity politics is too hard to ignore. If you don't understand why some of her supporters are angry, then you don't want to. Let people be angry, they'll eventually cool off. And stop with the condescending, surface-level critique of her and her supporters.
