What Would it Take For a State to Change Colors

say a California or Delaware going red and a Texas or Tennessee blue?
Or are the states stuck in their current colors for the next 50(random number) years

I mean W Bush and Obama changed some states around too but no major red or blue state switched like Reagan did

but demographics change leaders change policies change parties change so nothing will always be set in stone

Virginia is changing from red to blue because the federal government is growing so fast and all the federal workers live in that state.

- Takeover by the party at the state legislator
- Redistricting by that party in control, to allow gains in congress
