if they stopped trying to be so europeon.

If you've ever been to or watched an MLS game or especially a sounders game, its like people PRETENDING to be fans of real euro football clubs. it feels phony and doesn't appeal to a core american audience.

A sounders match feels phony
Have you ever been to one?
:what:

Cause the most dedicated fan base in american soccer who average 50,000 people per match is fake
:camby:

Soccer is easily the fastest growing sport in america Television wise,
and the MLS is shytting on MLB in % of full games
League-wide, 87% full
By contrast, only 4 mlb teams averaged filling there stadiums more than 87%

MLS averages more people per match than the NBA and NHL despite playing in stadiums that mostly fit only 16-18000 fans

I know where the threadstarter is coming from. He gotta start watching quality teams with folks that know what they're talking about. I started watching back in college. My teammates (Nigerians/West Africans) got me watching soccer by turning on the World Cup and watching the Brazilian team and obviously the Super Eagles. Ronaldo, Rivaldo, JJ Okocha. Offensive teams got me watching. I remember that I HATED watching the Italy squads, but now when I see defensive (less aggressive offensive) teams I see the skill in it.

I just don't ever see soccer ever being as popular as football, basketball and baseball in the US :manny:

it wont be..
excellent point... that's a top question when a real euro talks american sports

like... how can you like 5 teams? :ohhh:

in europe/the world you got your ONE soccer team, maybe the national team, and thats it.

I'd like to know of one poster posting in this forum that only has ONE team they follow. It will be exactly 0 people. People have their basketball, football team for starters. Then baseball if you're into that, or hockey if you're Canadian/from the north. And add college sports. So that's one person following 5 teams :bryan:

this is true but at the same time how many of those teams are in the same state/city you they rep?

euros only have 1 team because all they follow is 1 sport.. unless them euro cacs be riding for cricket like that

as long as you not all over the place with the stannery you cool wit me

for me? men in spandex and pads and helmets running into each other for 3 hours ever Sunday in the fall risking life, limbs, and their brains for my enjoyment. MOAR SPANDEX! :noah:

a novel concept.:ehh:

It can be like a league of Champions and the other best teams in each League. They could play matches when the Leagues dont play, maybe in the middle of the week. Have some type of tournament and determine the Champions of this new League at the end of each season. It could be like a Super Bowl! I think you stumbled into something gold! :ohhh:

We can call it... the League of Winners. Or the postseason of champions. Or football winners. Damn breh, idk. You got the ideas, you can find a name.

fukk the Champions League. Not the same thing I'm talking about but then again you already knew that.

You aren't getting the best of the best head to head when talent is spread over 100 teams. nikkas out here rooting for the Washington Generals led by Michael Redd. Bruh there is no reason for that shyt to exist!

that's how the game is worldwide. it's not euro, it's the sport itself. even japanese and korean people go ham in the crowds after being all rigid in a suit and tie after a 12 hour work day

but a lot of supporters' clubs do imitate foreigners, although it can also be said that many of the MLS supporters' clubs are made up of or at least started by immigrants

Wrong. That's European influence, which is where the sport's apex leagues reside. MLS takes after Europe. Soccer is Europeanized in the same way basketball is Americanized. Soccer fans worship Europeans. When people complain about the European-ness, they are right. It's obvious.

Moreover the average soccer athlete is not as athletic as the average basketball or football athlete. You try to explain this to a soccer fan and they get hysterical.

Thats actually a great comparison. There are so many Euro soccer teams many are on the level of college bball teams here in the States compared to the NBA squads.

Yet people continue to flock to those stadiums and arenas here and there. I wonder why. :ohhh:
