Despite the pace increasing lately it's still slower than the 80s and in this ball movement era he's not orchestrating the offense in the same manner as the sole ball handler. He's probably be playing the 4.

I think he'd get killed if you put him at point. Dude had trouble guarding Zeke back in his day so just imagine him trying to guard a modern point guard.

This is no slight to Zeke because he is the 2nd best PG in league history, but it's plenty of quicker people in today's game.

Philly bouls, Trust the Process
Some things in this thread don't make sense to me :patrice:
One one side, some of yall are having Magic averaging better numbers than he ever did despite pacing being lower than the 80s :dahell:
On the other side, some of yall are talkin about him being a Point Forward and not a PG today despite Ben Simmons being a PG? :dahell:

Magic putting up 25 PPG :gucci:

:gucci: ? buck averaged 23 a night and 22 in 88 and 89 only taking 14 shots a game. Imagine Magic playing for a coach like dantoni and he told buck to do whatever he pleased.

No reason magic wouldn't average 28-15-13 every night if he's just looking to pad stats and put up numbers.

But i'd imagine buck would be playing winning basketball and not looking to pad his stats like guys do today (I.E. westbrook, harden, lebron)

80s played a faster pace, but the 80s we're a lot more physical and you actually had bigs patrolling the lane. Now at 6'9 magic would be the tallest or one of the tallest players on the court having a freeway to the basket with no way to impede his progress without fouling him. Imagine buck rolling you on the post at 6'9 with kareems baby hook. How are you stopping this dude if he just wanted to score. Being able to look over defenses and find guys the way he does. He's the best offensive orchestra tor in nba history and he's playing todays game :whew: It would be a wrap for the league.

He’s the most overrated “pantheon”, “Mt. Rushmore” player.
You sound crazy as hell Bird and Kobe are both way more overrated just off the top of my head, unless you don’t consider them to be part of that “pantheon”. I would include Wilt too.

Bird is definitely not overrated you sound crazy. Neither is magic. Both are the 3rd and 4th greatest players to play respectively.

I’d take the guy who can give me 25-30 points on 50/40/90 stretching the defense out to half court, who can get me a good 7-8 assists with creative flair without hijacking the offense. The guy who can dominate on or off-ball and punish defenses in the half court especially down the stretch.

But do you :ehh:
"Creative flair" - are you serious right now? :what:
"punishing defenses" -:gucci:

Have you ever seen Magic Johnson play basketball?

Magic would punish these bum ass guards in the post..

Other than Embiid, he'd probably have the most vicious post game in the league today.

He even had Kareem's hook shot down to science.Like somebody said, Ben Simmons is putting up 16 8 8.

Magic makes him look like a welfare case on offense.Decent 3pt shooter, post game, GOAT vision/passing skills.

I'm giving Magic 21 10 12....And I'm trying to be conservative with those numbers
