It's about 90 miles just to the outer edge. No idea how far the actual base is.

I got that story from a coworker who was a Marine. He said he wanted to go out in the desert with his dog and test out a new truck. He said he was just driving in the open desert and out of nowhere he saw a jeep. He didn't see where it came from or heard it. He said he was stopped and they addressed him by his name before he told them. There was 4 guys and 3 had their rifles out as the 4th talked. He said they politely told him to turn around.
