I miss that pre 2000s NYC graffiti. I use to stay going to a site called art crimes.com back in the late 90s.

I'm not talking about tagging up subway cars and shyt. I'm talking about graffiti and graffiti art in general. shyt isnt even big like that anymore and on top of that, I'm noticing that shyt seemingly got less popular the more hip hop became pop and started to lose its history and roots.

spraying on walls versus making a post on IG?
:yeshrug:

You know how breakdancing went from being in the streets and not being taken seriously in the 70s and 80s to them making shows like American best dance crew in the 2000s and onward. You would think with the influx of artists in inner city areas especially in new york would make that shyt make a comeback in the form of graffiti contests and shyt like that in art studios and shyt. I'm just saying. Surprised graffiti hasnt been gentrified yet.

And like the man said...cities are commissioning them now to try directing that energy into something less controversial.
