Whatever happened to new games?

I remember as a youngin new piff was droppin left and right every month.
there hasn't been a game i've been hyped for since september to be honest. (last one being GTA 5).
The only games i'm hyped about are South Park and Metal Gear Solid dropping next month.
then after that it's dry season again.

ALL THIS PIFF DROPPED IN ONE YEAR BREHS...........ONE YEAR

Roll away is a classic, I recently bought it from the PS store

I'd say last year was a good year for gaming, but 2012 was probably the best year last gen. Piff was dropping damn near every month. But it really got hot towards the end when we had shyt like Dark Souls, Arkham City, Borderlands 2, Skyrim, and Far Cry 3 releasing during the same couple of months.

Game development takes longer and cost more for AAA titles. Even with that, last year was good and this year is shaping up fine if you include smaller titles (which I think you should)

Sonic Adventure dropped December 1998 in Japan.

He is right though. AAA games back then were a dime a dozen, and a lot of those games broke ground back in 1998. MGS and Legend of Zelda: OoT in a span of one month?

Once the PS3/360 generation came around, it was like a requirement to have online play/ cinematic gameplay/ expensive voice acting and it is breaking budgets like crazy.
