2013 saw The Last Of Us, GTA V, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, The Legend Of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, Super Mario 3D World, Pikmin 3, Bioshock Infinite, Fire Emblem: Awakening, Tomb Raider, Ni No Kuni, Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, Beyond: Two Souls, Gran Turismo 6, Lego City Undercover, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance and Rayman Legends.

Looks like a good year to me. :yeshrug:
MGS:Rising was trash, Rayman is a gotdamn kids game. Luigi Mansion and Lego too.
Beyond two souls, Assassins, GTA V, Ni No Kuni, Tomb raider were piff. Still haven't played Last of Us it's sitting on the shelf. Ain't nobody got a 3DS, b.

I guess 2013 was aight. But I only had a xbox for the majority of the year and they completely dropped the ball and released nothing.
What happened to the days where Nintendo and Sony were going head to head with piff exclusives.

:ohhh: realest/most logical answer in this thread. a lot of studios did get shutdown. Is this because they lacked funding for games? I thought they were being backed up by bigger companies? no?
Sony/Nintendo/Microsoft ain't showing love for the companies who basically made them who they are? (in the gaming world).

Basically some dev's couldn't hang once the cost's went up or big publishers like Sony, Microsoft, EA, Activision, Ubisoft etc. felt that they weren't making enough money back. Ironically, Nintendo done the least studio closings, they've been building new development studios.

Here a very long and depressing list of studio closures since 2006:

A ton of good studios are on that list too.:to:

And the crazy thing is, the list is incomplete.

Its the end of one gen and the beginning of another. If you looked at the middle of the gen we just ended you would find periods where lots of good games were dropping.

Furthermore that list is deceptive. For example US gamers were not playing Sonic Adventure in 1998 as the Dreamcast didnt launch until 1999.

Them "AAA blockbuster cinematic experiences" ain't cheap these days.

Plus add in the fact that a shytload of studio's either closed down or went indie over the past several years so the influx of game releases has been slowed down significantly.

And Japanese developers got shook when gaming went HD last gen and wasn't prepared. So most of them jumped ship to mobile gaming where it's cheaper to make games.

Im telling you, the hardware of the PS3/360 generation bankrupted a lot of 3rd party companies and many more franchises like Megaman never saw a console release; only downloads

People cared bout graphics more than gameplay and everything suffered.

My only problem is QTE.

I wish whoever implanted that shyt into last gen and this gen would die a horrible fiery death.

Yeah if nikkaz cared about gameplay shyt would be a little different, also consumers should take a few more spins hances with games. Bayonetta was piff and it sold poorly, now a nikka has to buy that non game having WII U to play the sequel

If you include indies, 2013 was better than that 98 list in my opinion. Already 2014 is looking pretty good too:

Jan/Feb:
  • Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze
  • The Banner Saga
  • Broken Age Act I
  • Octodad
  • Outlast
  • Wolf Among Us Ep 2
  • Bravely Default
  • Jazzpunk
  • OlliOlli
  • TxK
  • Dustforce (non-PC release)

March has:
  • Southpark
  • Titanfall
  • Dark Souls II
  • Infamous
  • MGSV: Ground Zeroes
  • Yoshi's New Island

Rest of 2014 potentially has:
  • Child of Light
  • Mario Kart 8
  • Destiny
  • Watch Dogs
  • Bayonetta 2
  • Evolve
  • Hotline Miami 2
  • Persona 5
  • MGSV
  • X
  • Binding of Isaac Rebirth
  • The Order: 1886
  • Witcher 3
  • The Witness
  • The Division
  • Rest of Walking Dead Season 2
  • Rest of Wolf Among Us
  • Super Smash Bros
  • Yarn Yoshi
  • Elder Scrolls Online
  • Below
  • Super Time Force
  • Hyper Light Drifter

That shyt pisses me off. It has come to the point where only 6 multi-plat games actually sell (NBA2K, Madden, Mass Effect, COD, Assassin's Creed, and GTA) and the rest struggle to break even with their inflated budgets. And the fact is, The Wii U would be open to those kind of non-popular games because that may be the only thing that these developers can actually afford.

I buy damn near all games, can't blame me breh. You can go through my Steam game list and Xbox gamerscore to see the offbrand shyt I've played.
