Hey quick update to the thread! The last time I contacted him he was working full-time at FedEx and sharing an apartment with a roommate. He received all of the money donated from each of you and he had a bank account open in his name.
I did a bit of follow-up mentoring in these areas:
-Understanding how to budget
-Managing a bank account
-40hrs of work in=Full check on payday
One concept he was struggling with the last time we spoke was working 40hrs a week. When I first got him set up, he was working at a temp agency and staying in a hotel. The temp agency pays daily and so I was trying to instill in him the concept of saving daily pay for bills.
As he transitioned into a full-time job at FedEx, he no longer had daily pay and so that was a bit of a difficult transition for him to make. I also had to emphasize that you have to work to get paid, but I think he eventually learned that and last time we spoke, he was doing well and had earned his first full-time paycheck.
I tried to contact him earlier this year but never received a call back so hopefully the young man is doing his thing and on his grind. Thanks to all for helping him out.
