Aesthetically their games may look alike from a glance, but they play nothing alike. Mase was more in the point forward play initiator mold while Zion is an extremely aggressive offensive force. Defensively Mase was an enforcer and low block rebound gobbler, while Zion is more of a gambler and weakside and trailing shot blocker. Mason was never a high flyer or aggressive offensively. He had a nice mid range game but was basically the first Ben Simmons. He only made two (2!) 3 pointers in his entire career and never really shot beyond 18 feet.
Zion will average more PPG as a rookie than Mason's highest career season (16 PPG). That said I loved Mase as a Knick, my daddy played with him in AAU and high school and said that the Knicks handcuffed his game and we never got to see the real Anthony Mason in the NBA.
