My problem with the line is that "Goons" and "Goblin" have no relation for a direct comparison. I think Wayne was actually just confusing the word "goon" with "ghoul" (Ghoul - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) which is a type of monster often described along side "goblins" in folklore.
