There's nothing logical about this, I don't know why men repeat it so much. The very fact that its as easy as it is for women is the reason why women's numbers are generally higher. Its a cause and effect thing.

But when men have a lot of numbers, to me it shows a serious character flaw. That means they are actively out there soliciting and trying their hardest to bed as many women as possible. That could signify insecurity or downright untrustworthiness in their character (therefore, not relationship material or worth taking seriously).

As far as evolutionary psychology goes, I really hate when people speak about things they have no idea about. In terms of evolutionary psychology it has always been advantageous for females to have multiple partners, always. The same for men. The only difference in evolution is that men have to care more about women's partners because of the issue of paternity. A woman never has a concern about knowing what child is hers so she is less invested in policing a man's sexuality as a man is a woman's (because he has to be).
